SPRING FUN SHOOT:
For the past nine years the Club has hosted a Spring Fun Shoot and it is always an enjoyable day.  For many years the proceeds benefited conservation work  by Ducks Unlimited & or Pheasants Forever.  This year the proceeds will go to the Chippewa Valley Council of the Boy Scouts. The Club has formed a relationship with the Scouts by sponsoring a Venture Scouting Group, Hosting the Council’s Spring Camporee on our Club grounds and having had Eagle Scouts do projects on our property.  Many of the Scouting programs give people and introduction to the many things our Club stands for and promotes.
Featured raffle item this year is a Weatherby .270 Rifle.  A great addition to anyone’s cabinet.
Please join us on May 23rd. All shooter are more then welcome, A $25.00 entrance fee gives you 75 targets (3 Rounds) your choice of (Trap both singles or doubles, Flurry, or 5 Stand)

As always there will be great shooting prizes, Food, Silent Auction items and Raffles.  Registration forms are available at the club for a chance at the Early Bird Drawing.  Each Shooter will receive one ticket for each target broken to be place in the bucket of the prize’s you wish to win. PINE TREE REMOVAL:
Members have been asking why the big pine tree along the south side of the parking lot have been removed, Reason there died.  The Board felt that we should remove them and try to save the other’s.  Club member Aaron Anderson and his father volunteered the cut them down and to haul them away. They also came back and cut the stumps off below the ground.  Many thanks Aaron.

The Conservation Easement has provided additional opportunity for the Club and area conservation projects through the NAWCA (North American Wetland Conservation Act) Grant.   Area conservation agencies have applied for a grant and the Club was able to join them in requesting monies for two projects.  One is to remove invasive plants (cat tails) form the ponds on our property and open up the ponds for wild life.  The other is to clean up tires in a section of Lowes Creek and create better habitat for fish and wild life.
BOY SCOUTS:
The Eau Claire area Boy Scout Council held their spring camporee on the club grounds.  The leaders and scouts were excited about being at the club and having such a variety of activities available to them.  This  give many young people a great introduction to our facility and the great programs we have.
THE 2009 YOUTH TRAPSHOOTING PROGRAM:
All youth are invited to take part in this program.  Targets will be provided through the generous donations of club members.  If needed, shells will also be provided and we have some youth model shotguns available.  Eye and ear protection is required.  Ear plugs are available, at no cost, for the shooters.  We have a limited number of shooting glasses available for use.  Scheels and Gander Mountain both stock shooting glasses and ear protection in a variety of sizes and price ranges. For night time shooting, we recommend clear or a light yellow lens for your glasses. Parents:  If you intend to reload shells for your youth, we recommend that you load a light recoil shell.  Please see  Jason Berry, Lee Mathson or other experienced reloader for a suggested recipe.
The program’s shooting dates are Thursday June 4th for the Youth League Orientation Meeting. All new youth shooters must attend this meeting. Shooting dates for 2009 are Thursday’s  June 11, 18, 25. July 2, 9, 23, 30.  and Aug. 6. 20.  These are also listed on the Club’s shooting calendar available in the trap room.  During 2009 season we will have 9 shooting sessions, instructors will be on the firing line with all youth participants, providing coaching and ensuring safe gun handling. If you missed the orientation meeting you can still come out and join this program.
